Parent tip #2

Listen to internet radio.  The best Chicago internet radio station you should be listening to is Chirp.  You can check it out here (CHIRP Radio)

If you haven't listened to internet radio lately, or ever, then it's time to give it another try.  It used to sound "tinny" or the stream would cut in and out.  No longer.  It sounds great and you probably have a fast internet connection at home and work that prevents it from "buffering" or cutting out.

You can listen at work on your computer with the "pop up" player, just click on the tab on the website.  Or you can stream it at home and plug your computer into your stereo.  All you need is a connection cable that's two pronged on one side and one connector on the other.  If you like the music I'm featuring on the blog then you'll love this radio station.  They also have a free app on Itunes, so you can listen to it on your phone.  Listen to it on the "L", plug it into your car, your stereo or some portable speakers.  You can also listen on Android or Blackberry.

The station is run by some great people who used to work at WLUW and who know the ins and outs of the Chicago music scene.   CHIRP is also working to convince Congress and the FCC to remove existing barriers to the granting of low power FM radio licenses in urban areas, including Chicago, which means you'll be able to listen to it on traditional "terrestrial" radio if they are successful...and if you live really really close to the signal.

So check it out and you're guaranteed to find new music that will soon become your favorite and put you back on the path to musical bliss.
