Song of the Day #9

Tokyo Police Club - "Breakneck Speed"
Champ
Melodic, nerdy and catchy.  The exact opposite of Panda Bear, Grizzly Bear or anything you would hear on the Gorilla vs. Bear podcast.  Throw Animal Collective in there too.  But not too far off from Bear Hands or Bear vs. Shark.  well kind of off from Bear vs. Shark which is more hardcore leaning.  Does the "Superbowl Shuffle" by Da Bears count as a band?  If it does then everything is opposite of that.

  1. Do you have any suggestions for what to see at Fitzgerald's American Music Festival? I enjoyed it before kids and now I am looking to return with kids who are older. Also, what is your take on the music at The Taste of Chicago or Summerfest?

    Thanks,
    Katherine

  2. Jon Langford is the only person I would really go out of my way to see. It's pretty pricey for everything else, none of those bands alone are worth $35, but it's fun to sit out there and casually check out the music if it's nice out.
Taste of Chicago, forget it. Passion Pit would be cool on the 4th but I'm not sure it's worth dealing with all the dirty used corn husks attacking you. Bel Biv Devoe tonight, ha! How about Rob Thomas? or Los Lonely Boys? gross...
Summerfest is like taste of Chicago without the food, unless elephant ears count as food, it's under a bridge, it's mostly cement and it's an hour and a half away. The bands are pretty cool though. Most everyone popular is playing there, all genres.

  3. Dear Anonymous,

I would plan to see "Pre-recorded Music" everyday at JoJo's Martini Lounge at Summerfest. As for the Taste, I recommend the renaissance faire style turkey leg. Feel free to wipe your greasy hands on the shirtless-guy-standing-next-to-you's chest toupee. See you there!

    Love
