Three 12 year old girls and their babysitter walk into a bar...

Three 12 year old girls and their 24 year old babysitter walk into a bar and it's to play a gig!  And they are really good!
Hailing from Chicago's north suburbs, the self described indie pop quartet, Purple Apple, is made up of three 12 year old girls fronting the band with their 24 year old babysitter on drums. They've already played tough to get booked at venues like Metro and The Hideout, their songs were produced by a local band member from Caviar/Prairie Cartel, they're managed by the same guy who manages Chicago buzz band Moneypenny and they have a shout out quote from Scott Lucas who was White Striping before the White Stripes with the band Local H.
I can tell you that after 20 years in the music industry, EVERYONE has cousin, nephew, friend of a friend, sister's boyfriend, co-worker etc. that has a band that just needs their music to be heard so they can be signed and become huge, "their music is the best I've ever heard, really".  99.9% of the time it's horrible.  So when I heard that a friend of my niece, who plays goalie on her soccer team, had a band, it kind of just bounced off me, I'm a little numb to that stuff now.  But then it hits you, 12 year olds? babysitter?  played Metro?  Hideout?  I have to check this out.
As a parent you've probably become numb to kids music from too much Ralph's World/Miley Cyrus/Backyardigans/Radio Disney.  After hundreds of listens it starts to bounce off of you too.  These guys offer hope.  It sounds great, not overly dumbed down or overproduced or too simple.  It sounds genuine, fun and pretty cool.  I'm not telling you to put it into heavy rotation next to Radiohead, Andrew Bird, Local H or Caviar, but if you expose your kids to this you might not only appear a little bit less "out of it" to them, you'll also enjoy the same music they do a little bit more.  I'm telling you, it's worth a listen.  http://www.myspace.com/purpleapplemusic
